About Resting Heart Rate
Resting heart rate (RHR) is the number of heart beats per minute when you are at rest—ideally measured first thing in the morning before getting out of bed. Tracking RHR over time gives a window into your cardiovascular fitness, recovery status, and overall health. Well‑trained endurance athletes commonly record lower RHR values (sometimes below 60 bpm), while stress, illness, dehydration, poor sleep, or stimulants such as caffeine can temporarily raise RHR.
This tracker is built for simple, repeated logging. Record your RHR daily (or as often as you like), add short notes about sleep, training, or illness, and watch trends. A rising trend over several days may indicate poor recovery or early illness; a gradual downward trend with consistent training often signals improved aerobic fitness.
For reliable health guidance and definitions, consult authoritative sources like the American Heart Association, the NHS, and the CDC. If your RHR is consistently outside expected ranges, or you experience symptoms like dizziness or chest pain, seek medical attention.
